| Summary of Essential Job Functions: |
| |
- Oversee the day-to-day media services operations of the AAFL, including direct media and public relations efforts, promoting the AAFL and its Teams and events showcasing the AAFL and its players, working closely with local, regional and national media (including print, television, radio and internet
- Develop and nurture relationships with targeted media with a creative and proactive ability to encourage positive stories and features on the AAFL and its Teams, players and events, while reinforcing the AAFL’s overall messages
- Create and write press releases
- Write daily and weekly email distribution newsletters
- Formulate and manage media and public relations policy for the AAFL
- Supervise public and media relations staff for the Teams and AAFL office staff
- Work closely with Team staffs and the AAFL staff to ensure high visibility and clear positioning of the AAFL with local audience
- Think strategically across both the AAFL and Team levels to ensure optimum inclusion of related marketing and promotional opportunities
- Manage AAFL’s internal communications to ensure proper dissemination of information; maintaining league’s communications with the AAFL
- Assist in planning and coordinating special events to increase publicity opportunities
- Oversee Team and player statistics and provide to necessary outlets
- Oversee AAFL accreditation process for media and scouts at AAFL games and events
- Monitor and manage all AAFL interview requests
- Oversee Team-level game day media operations including press accommodations, press attendants and statistics crew, post-game press conferences, player interviews and post-game reports
- Conduct media relations training for Team staff, coaches and players
- Create and produce AAFL Guide and Register/Blue Book
- Create and produce yearly AAFL PR plan
- Work with AAFL Marketing, Teams and NBA Interactive on creating, updating and managing AAFL.com
- Assist at AAFL events, including the AAFL All American Bowl
- Other duties as assigned by the AAFL Vice President and AAFL Communications

| Minimum Requirements: |
| |
- Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks/projects and meet deadlines
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to interact with all levels with AAFL and other high level outside contacts
- Detail-oriented, organized, flexible, accurate
- Self-starter
- Demonstrates computer proficiency required
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Creative thinker

| Experience Needed: |
| |
- Minimum 5-7 years direct experience in sports public relations
- Bachelor’s Degree at minimum, communications or public relations emphasis preferable
