MARCUS KATZ (Founder):

A college football aficionado for half a century, Katz first conceived the AAFL concept more than two decades ago. In 2003, he arranged for League’s initial capital contribution, opened the League office, and began the quest to determine whether college football fans shared his passion to make the League's concept reality.

In 1993, Katz founded Educational Loan Administration Group, which, in partnership with Union Benefit Life Insurance Company, pioneered the direct marketing of student loans to parents of college students. In its first year of operation, the company became the nation's second largest provider of student loans to parents. In 1996 the bulk of ELA's assets were sold to American Express. Katz, immediately reestablished ELA as a top-five provider of parental educational loans. In 1998, the company was sold to UICI, a Dallas based insurance company listed on the NY Stock Exchange.

In 2001, Katz co-founded a new family owned student loan business, which by 2006, became the nation's 9th largest holder of federally insured collegiate loans. Katz sold his interest in this business in July 2006 and has since devoted his time to the development of the League.
