- On January 26, 2008, Turner Broadcasting produced and televised the AAFL's Inaugural Draft. The three-hour telecast was viewed in nearly 100 markets reaching approximately 20 million people. The AAFL became the first league to have its inaugural draft televised.
- The Draft was led by an in-studio team with live satellite reports from the League office and the six Team locations.
- Key players who were drafted into the League included Chris Leak, Peter Warrick, Clint Stoerner, Eric Crouch, Woody Dantzler and Bryan Randall.
